Everyone talks about bringing the outdoors in—but now that spring has finally arrived (and with Easter just around the corner), it’s the perfect time to do the opposite and take your comfort outside by creating a cosy garden lounge.
Start by adding colour and personality. I recently picked up some fun, vibrant cushion covers for my garden sofa, and they instantly transformed the space. If, like me, you have an urban garden without colourful flower beds, textiles are a simple and effective way to brighten things up.
Before heading out to buy anything new, take a look around your home. You might already have cushions tucked away in a cupboard or stored in the attic. By simply switching up the covers, you can refresh your garden without spending much at all.
Another easy way to elevate your outdoor space is by adding an outdoor rug. There are plenty of affordable and colourful options available, and they can instantly make your seating area feel more styled, comfortable, and inviting—almost like an extension of your living room.
Lighting is key to creating that cosy atmosphere. Solar lights have come a long way in recent years and are a great, energy-efficient option. Try highlighting a tree or garden feature, or drape string lights around your seating area for a warm glow. Lanterns with candles can add a soft, ambient feel, while simple tealights in jars create a relaxed and intimate setting. After all, everything looks better in candlelight.
With just a few thoughtful touches, you can turn any outdoor space into a welcoming garden lounge—perfect for relaxing, entertaining, or simply enjoying the longer spring evening.
