Is your hallway welcoming? When preparing your home for sale remember to create a good first impression in the hallway. Here’s a few staging tips for your hallway. Whatever you buy can be taken with you to your new home.
Tip 1 – declutter
Clear away all your clutter. There’s nothing more unappealing than a pile of shoes in the hallway and a mountain of coats thrown over a bannister.
Tip 2 – the lighting
Make sure you have good lighting in the hallway. Is the ceiling light fitting clean and bright? You might want to consider investing in a new light shade or even something a bit more special that makes a real statement. A new LED bulb and a sparkling light fitting can make all the difference.
Tip 3 – add a mirror
If you haven’t already got a mirror in the hallway this is a great addition to help brighten and lighten the area.
Tip 4 – console table
If you have got room for a console table in your hallway then this is an item definitely worth including. Ideally position it under a lovely mirror and have a plant or vase of fresh flowers on it (good quality fake flowers can work if you are not living in the property). If your hallway is particularly dark it may benefit from having a table lamp on the console table.
Tip 5 – mat or runner
Buy a new mat or door runner to go just inside the door. An inexpensive neutral jute runner can work well in most hallways.
